F. E. Strike & Sons was founded in 1924 by Francis Edyvean Strike to serve the local community of Porthleven.
We are proud to be one of the oldest independent funeral directors in the area still being run by the same family
F. E Strike & Sons in now into its fourth generation of “Strikes” with the two current directors being Father & Son, Iain Strike and Chris Strike.
Our Funeral Directors are backed up by a dedicated team consisting of other family members and loyal employees.
Our current premises on Vicarage Road used to be the Council’s Mortuary which we took over in the mid 80’s.
We still have some original features of this historic building although no longer in use as a mortuary, we think the history in the building should be preserved.
We are proud to be an independent and very much family run business.
Over four generations we continue to provide a caring, professional service available 24hrs a day, 365 days a year.

LETTERS TO HEAVEN
After a number of suggestions from residents, Porthleven Environmental Group (in conjunction with FE Strike and Sons) will be purchasing and erecting a "Letters to Heaven" post box to be situated in Porthleven Cemetery.
The idea came from a young girl, Matilda Handy, who suggested the idea to her Mum after the loss of her Grandparents; she was grieving and wanted to express her feelings by 'writing to them'.
The idea has taken off nationally although there are currently only two in Cornwall.
People find real comfort in sending something whether it’s a child drawing a picture or an older person expressing loving thoughts and feelings to their departed loved ones.
Matilda’s Mum hopes her daughters heartfelt creation can ease the suffering that grief causes and be of some comfort to the bereaved.
The post box will be emptied as needed and the letters will not be opened or read. Instead, the letters are cremated in a small incinerator with the thought that the smoke goes to heaven and the ashes are scattered on the earth.
The box will be managed and maintained by PEG in association with FE Strike & Sons Funeral Directors.
